ba. celebrate five years together with a book, a movie and a sold-out show

ba. is undoubtedly one of the most popular rock groups in Lithuania right now. This year the band is celebrating their fifth birthday and to commemorate that, they are pushing out a load of new stuff for you to check out.

ba. decided to mark their birthday with a bang, releasing a photography book called ‘CHAOSAS MANYJE NIEKO NAUJO’ (en. ‘Chaos in me is nothing new’), containing pictures from the past five years. Gigs, festivals, backstage and recording sessions – it‘s all there. There are also several nice bonuses inside, one of which is a CD containing the best tracks of 2012–2017.

Besides music, the band has always been very much about visual expression. A week after the book release and presentation at the Vilnius Book Fair, ba. premiered a documentary film at the local cinema where over five hundred fans, friends and collegues came to watch.

Rather than telling the exact story of the band, the documentary tries to give the feeling of what it is like to be at ba.’s shows. A diligent listener of ba. will find some interesting anecdotes about the band’s internal chemistry and important details surrounding how it all really started. Besides that, the movie gives a glimpse of the bands’ best gigs.

Anyone who is getting to know the band will be able to get a taste of the kind of energy and ideas ba. radiate to their audience. Moreover, the structure and editing of the movie definitely reflects the frontman Benas Aleksandravičius himself – passionate, frank and of course somewhat chaotic.

The gig

The series of celebratory events were crowned by a huge sold-out gig at LOFTAS on March 16th.

The concert experience was something that every music fan dreams about: a venue filled with a passionate audience, band members exploding with energy and giving all they’ve got, as well as impressive lighting and flawless sound that boosted the show to the highest possible heights.

Besides ba.’s familiar sound, fans were greeted by remade versions of the band’s hits like ‘SUGEBĖT PASIKEIST’ and also several new pieces – ‘RANDAI=VEIKSMAI’ and the first-timer ‘ANTISENTIMENTALUS’.

Although the band started as a drum-guitar duo, they are now a full four-piece band, making their sound undeniably fuller and richer with more creative and musical energy.

As always, ba. surrounded themselves with their usual visual crew. The band’s favorite photographers and film-makers made sure that this important birthday gig would be recorded in the best way possible.

The gig was like a wave of rhythms rather than building towards a single culmination. It started with the bangers, descended to the slower, sentimental tracks and then finished with the fast-paced hits like SAULĖSUŽTEMIMAS and AUKA.

Currently, the band is getting ready for their April 27th gig in Kaunas.

Check out the song ‘RANDAI=VEIKSMAI’ (en. Scars=Actions) that was released just before the concert at Loftas.
